One of my favorite little towns on the north end of the Long Beach Peninsula is Ocean Park, Washington. With the Pacific Ocean on one side and Willapa Bay on the other, you'll find beaches, oyster beds, historic neighborhoods, and several fun events during the year to keep you busy. Anytime of the year you'll enjoy the quiet, welcoming atmosphere of this beach town, a perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying all the benefits of living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Ocean Park Happenings
4th of July Parade
Join hundreds of spectators, local businesses and service organizations in this quintessential American tradition, the Ocean Park Old Fashioned 4th of July Parade! Typically the parade starts with a flyover by the United States Coast Guard helicopter and the Star Spangled Banner performed by Ilwaco High School band members, followed by the Statue of Liberty with her torch held high! Past parades have included clowns, hot rods and motorcyclists, shopping cart drill team, belly dancers, fire department and police vehicles, dogs and children. It’s a wonderful day to proudly wave the Stars and Stripes and let your patriotism shine!
43rd NW Garlic Festival
Sept 13th and 14th the air will be redolent with the smell of all things garlic on Sheldon Field in Ocean Park. Local artists, food vendors, and garlic-related businesses showcase their products at this beloved Pacific Northwest tradition. There might even be some garlic ice-cream to try!
Rod Run to the End of the World
The entire Peninsula transforms into a car enthusiast's paradise the weekend after Labor Day, as thousands of classic cars and hot rods cruise through the streets. The family-friendly car show is held at the Beach Baron's Field in Ocean Park and gives classic car lovers a chance to stroll through the aisles of beautifully restored cars, find good food, enjoy live entertainment and more.
Jack's Country Store
Step back in time at Jack's Country Store, a historic general store that has been serving the Ocean Park community since 1885. This iconic establishment offers a wide selection of goods, from groceries to hardware, and is a fascinating place to explore. The store's vintage charm and extensive inventory make it a delightful stop for both shopping and sightseeing.
